Severe weather was rolling through our town spawning tornadoes, hail, and wide-spread historic flooding. Even though we were safe at Baby’s house, the kids were getting nervous. Then, the sirens went off.
In a flash, Mom and I cleared out the toy closet, grabbed pillows off the sofa, and herded the kids safely inside. We all waited, listening to the howling of the sirens blaring in the distance.
As we sat in silence, Max breaks the tension by asking quietly and simply, “Why are the tomatoes coming?”
